Dawn Eagle lives in the village of Prebbleton just outside Christchurch, New Zealand. Her two sons live locally and her daughter lives in Melbourne, Australia. In her retirement years she has a fulfilling and interesting life tending her large garden and breeding roses which are grown in New Zealand and Japan. She and her late husband, Barry, had two rose books published years ago, and after becoming a widow she revived her love of writing.
She gained valuable experience when editing the New Zealand Rose Annual for the NZ Rose Society for 10 years, and produced her handbook Growing Roses is Easy when she needed something to underline her tips and suggestions when speaking to garden clubs and organisations. This led to researching the historical significance of the arrival of roses into Australia and New Zealand. She intermittently worked on her rose book Roses Down Under for years, but the story of Eliza and the Blue Rose intervened and became her main interest. When this novel had been published in the US she returned to her rose book, Roses Down Under, and this was published in late 2013. There is another novel in the pipeline - this time set in modern day Christchurch, and without the 'rose' theme of Eliza and the Blue Rose. The manuscript is at the editing stage and should be completed soon.
Both Eliza and the Blue Rose and Roses Down Under can be purchased through Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble for overseas readers, and at this stage they are only available in New Zealand through this website.
